Championship Cars of The Past and The Future At Sprint Sound & Speed Presented by SunTrust

(Nashville, Tenn.) January 3, 2007…More than 20 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series show cars will be on display at this year’s Sprint Sound & Speed Presented by SunTrust, January 12 and 13 in downtown Nashville. Among the cars will be the brand new Toyota Camry cars – #44 UPS and #55 Napa Auto Parts – that will be debuting in the 2007 season.
Cars of great historical significance including Dale Earnhardt’s 1980 Bristol-winning #3 GM, Richard Petty’s famed #43 STP that won the 198th race of his 200 win career and Adam Petty’s #45 Spree car, will also be on display in the Gaylord Entertainment Center.
The complete list of cars includes: #8 Budweiser, #22 Caterpillar, #1 Bass Pro Shops, #9 Dodge, #20 Home Depot, #01 Army, #55 NAPA, #44 UPS, #2 Miller, #31 Cingular, #29 Shell, #07 Jack Daniel’s, #3 GM, #38 M & M’s, #77 Dollar General and the Grand Am #10 SunTrust Daytona Prototype.
The display of show cars is just one of many activities during the two-day festival. Additional activities include a Friday night Honky Tonk Pit Stop club crawl among the bars on historic lower Broadway in downtown Nashville; a Gears and Guitars fan auction of music and racing memorabilia (as well as a brand new Triumph motorcycle); Legends Sessions Q & As; artist autograph and Q & A sessions; Sponsor City; and of course, great live music including the Goody’s Country Concert featuring Jo Dee Messina, Josh Turner and Rodney Atkins.
Scheduled to participate are artists (in addition to Messina, Turner & Atkins): Trace Adkins, Joe Nichols, Craig Morgan, Aaron Tippin, Trent Willmon, Ray Scott, Aaron Benward of Blue County, Ashley Monroe, John Anderson, Ray Stevens, Brenda Lee, Mel Tillis, Bill Anderson and model Niki Taylor. Drivers include Richard Petty, Kyle Petty, Michael Waltrip, Darrell Waltrip, Bobby Allison, Ryan Newman, Jamie McMurray, David Stremme, Bobby LaBonte, Kertus Davis, Bobby Hamilton, Jr., Aric Almirola, Ernie Irvan, Cale Yarborough, Richard Childress, Rex White and Junie Donlavey.
Tickets are $20 for the festival and $35 for the Goody’s Country Concert. There is also a $15 ticket for Friday night’s Honky Tonk Pit Stop/Gears & Guitars auction. Children under 2 are admitted for free while children 3 – 10 are $10 for the festival and $16 for the concert. Tickets are available through ticketmaster.com or soundandspeed2007.com. All proceeds from the event will benefit the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum charities and the Victory Junction Gang Camp for seriously ill children.
