(Nashville, Tenn)…Fans of country music and NASCAR were treated to the best of both worlds at this year’s Sprint Sound & Speed Presented by SunTrust festival. The excitement began to build as fans lined the red carpet entrance to the Wildhorse Saloon on Friday night to catch a glimpse of stars like Josh Turner, Joe Nichols, Bucky Covington, Big Kenny, Lonestar, Richard Petty, Ryan Newman, and David Stremme as they made their way into the The Groove, the invitation-only VIP gala that launches the Sound & Speed event.
Once inside, stars were treated to performances by Martina McBride, Lonestar, BeBe Winans and campers from the Victory Junction Gang Camp while bidding on amazing auction items provided by many of the top stars of country music and NASCAR.
It was a mild winter’s day in Music City when the festival got under way bright and early from center stage at The Ryman Auditorium, the mother church of country music. Legends like Darrell Waltrip, Bobby Allison, Richard Childress, Ray Stevens, Little Jimmy Dickens and Mel Tillis swapped stories and answered questions from fans during a series of Legends’ sessions.
Just down the street at the Gaylord Entertainment Center fans got a chance to get up close and personal with many artists and drivers who generously donated their time at the ongoing autograph sessions. The concourse of the GEC was lined with a variety of show cars, including the debut of the Toyota models, and many got to see the season’s new paint jobs for the fist time.
Across the street from the GEC in Sponsor City there were several interactive activities – including a competition for the fastest tire changer – as well as giveaways, merchandise and food vendors.
The perfect finale to the festival was the Goody’s Country Concert which featured Jo Dee Messina, Josh Turner and Rodney Atkins.
